SOME COMMENTS ON THE PLACE
You know about this place. Neighborhood joint with their own jucy lucy (note spelling), pictures of beer and paper dinnerware. Seems to us that those three items are the holy trinity of all fine eating establishments. Matt’s is the usual crowded small place with every age range and a fair number of solos just sitting around reading or writing or doing homework. Well worth the stop.
SOME COMMENTS ON THE HELP
Busy, very busy.
THE FOOD, THE FOOD
Basic bar food. In Scotland they would call this kind of eating “basic bar food”. In England they might call it “bloody good burgers” due to the uncooked center of the mighty lucy. At the American Heart Association they would check the defibrillator before ordering. The American Vegan society would, well, who really cares?
OTHER THINGS WE THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW
Street parking abounds. Lock the vehicle. It’ll look overfilled when you first walk in but you mos likely will find a place to sit near the back. Don’t ask if they have the REAL juicy lucy. Even the Wiki entry is unsure. Although Lucy is certainly a twin cities invention, you will want to check our review of the 5-8 and then spend a day testing the two burgers. It’s convenient that they are both on Cedar Avenue south.
