SOME COMMENTS ON THE PLACE
Often referred to as “Gasthof’s” this NE establishment is much lauded by many for it’s selection of fine German beverages and large platters of meat product. Having frequented Mario’s Keller Bar (in the basement) for weekend excursions in the past I was not unfamiliar with the look. The dining area emits a middle European feel with it’s wood work and large tables. We were seated in a massive booth with a round table that appeared sufficient to hold a kingly feast.
SOME COMMENTS ON THE HELP
The service was friendly and more than eager to suggest large portions and bring additional brews.
THE FOOD, THE FOOD
We opted for more of the family-style approach and were pleased with the assortment of tubular meats, potato dishes, and assorted other dishes loaded with cream and other goodness. The cabbage and kraut fit well with the food assortment and continuous brew selection.
OTHER THINGS WE THINK YOU SHOULD KNOW
Unfortunately not all of the GNO crew was able to attend this event but we made due and ate their portions as well to make up for it. If you have not visited Gasthof’s in the past it is highly recommended that you participate fully in the whole experience by getting a boot of beer to share and partaking in the “snus” catapult. Also, this was one of the more costly GNO evenings we have had, make sure to account for this ahead of time.
NOTE: This is a completely different establishment from the GASTHAUS BAVARIAN HUNTER, however the food selection was very similar.
